Nodowa tells of distant Far Eastern traditions, of ancient medieval armour made by the most skilled Japanese craftsmen of the Edo period.
Its distinctive feature is the fabric stitching that supports and adorns the armour. which becomes a study theme for the atelier. Leather, a material used in the creation of the ancient Japanese gorget, is employed to develop a new textile pattern.
Nodowa is made of a unique textile structure that is light, strong and highly flexible. The entirely knitted weft with leather yarns, thanks to the alternation of different stitches, takes up the language of ancient handicrafts, enriching it with a contemporary aesthetic.
Just as the elegance of fabric sews the metal plates and the decoration becomes armour, so the new knitted leather structure becomes elegant ornament.
